The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Teaser Arrives, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination shared the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that highlighted the forthcoming animated feature.
The follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will propel Mario to the distant reaches of the universe. There, he will encounter a new princess and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
An Interstellar Journey Based on Classic Games
In the vein of the games from the Wii period that provide its foundation, Mario will leave behind the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. On his epic voyage, he will reunite with some familiar faces, including the Luma, a popular character from the original cinematic release.
But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who seemingly wields metal-based powers. Worth mentioning, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The movie will see the return of the original voice cast, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
The upcoming Mario film is set to release around the time of the four-decade milestone of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Beyond the film, 2026 looks set to be a major period for Mario and his companions.
The company has a set of three fresh titles publicly declared for that year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
