Battlefield 6 Players Agree: Challenges Are Excessively Difficult
The debut of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 was met with broad praise, especially for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, simultaneous player numbers peaked at nearly 750,000. However, despite its popularity, a growing number of players are voicing discontent with some of the game's toughest challenges, which are necessary to obtain particular firearms.
Users have commenced using personalized games made via the Portal feature to achieve these objectives, underscoring just how demanding these challenges have become.
Grasping BF6 Objectives
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, in contrast to the frequently updated daily and weekly challenges. The game includes four types of assignments, but although many only reward cosmetics and some tools, finishing the gun missions is the sole method of acquiring 12 of the 41 key firearms found within the game.
A number of these restricted firearms could shortly earn a place on rankings for the finest arms in Battlefield 6.
Player Outcry via Reddit
Over on Reddit, players are justifiably sharing their frustrations about how difficult and grindy some of these challenges are. A particular gamer pointed out one of the most extreme examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs
"This task is so terrible and completely out of mind, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a quote that summarizes just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.
The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it lacks nearly as many advantages in battle as it had in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.
At the same time, using an LMG from the hip is extremely unreliable and is effective only at extremely close range, which is seldom the location you want to be. The commenter also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that mission would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and conversely.
Another Extremely Difficult Task
A different forum member pointed out another ridiculously tough challenge, within the marksman rifle class to unlock the PSR:
- Secure 150 precision takedowns beyond 200 meters with long-range weapons
This is difficult enough as it is, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at such a long range.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but given there are merely nine battlegrounds in the game right now, it implies you must stick to playing a specific urban map, a particular valley environment, and perhaps an additional option at a push if you plan to engage from afar from beyond 200 meters.
The Workaround
There is a workaround though: the custom game tool. The Battlefield Portal is a tool that allows you to create personalized matches on any map you prefer, complete with bots. This allows you can cheese the system… but it doesn't exactly feel like the spirit of the game.
However, when tackling the tasks in a normal session seems counterproductive, since you have to play in such an unconventional way that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can blame someone for finishing these in a personal session so allies are not impaired?
Upcoming Tweaks
It is expected if some of these assignments are toned down in the next few updates, because unless they are modified, a portion of the user base simply won't get their hands on the gated weapons.
For now, the community continues to express their views on these challenging multiplayer missions, anticipating a more balanced player experience in coming revisions.
